some things that are good
Welcome to Welcome to Hell!!!. This is a newsletter/blog/whatever of sometimes deep (but mostly dumb) thoughts on life & stuff, irregularly authored by Emmy-losing comedy writer Alison Zeidman.
A lot of things are bad right now. So here are some things that are good.
First and foremost: The last time I sent a newsletter my cat was maybe going to die, but now she is alive! Toni The Miracle Baby has completed her three months of very expensive miracle treatment for F.I.P. and is thriving. She’s gained all her cat meat back on her cat bones, and is back to hour-long full-speed zoomies crashing around the house terrorizing our entitled grouchy man-baby cat (which is good, because Dude needs to be put in his place).
Another thing that is good: Friendship. The Bomb Bomb Bombshells recently decided to forego plans for a complex sex motel-slash-murder-mystery-themed sketch comedy show that none of us really had the time or mental capacity to pull off by the planned date, but I so appreciate these gals and all their support and maybe we’ll start a book club or something instead. Here we all are (including two Carolyns who were definitely both there) on the second-to-last night of South Philly’s wildest and most confusingly named Italian restaurant, Bomb Bomb Bar B Que.

Finally: I’ve been working with a director/new play development consultant to reshape Ready To Die? and also tell me where to stand and how to move my body and use the whole stage in ways that feel more deliberate and theater-y. I realize this will be controversial for those of you who’ve always considered my stilted lack of natural physicality to be my greatest asset as a performer, but I ask you to withhold your objections until you’ve seen what it’s like when I act like I’m comfortable in my own body and know what I’m doing. I am an artist, you must allow me to take risks!!
Here’s a flyer for some upcoming dates. If you’ve seen the show before, it’s changed a lot since you saw it you should see it again! If you haven’t seen the show before, disregard everything I’ve said up to this point — it’s been a flawless, fully-formed production since the very beginning because I am a perfect genius.
Tickets on sale now for Philly (NEXT SATURDAY!!!) here and Bethlehem here. If you’d like to see the show but it’s not in your budget, let me know and I can put you on the comp list.
OK now let’s talk about you. How are you doing? What’s good for you right now?
